Native American Tribal Youth Program

The First Offender Program is a “court diversion” program that may be funded by The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and enable you to offer a successful Tribal Youth Program (TYP).

The intent of the First Offender program is to “divert” a juvenile away from further penetration into the juvenile justice system. The Program offers a range of services to both the juvenile and the family.

The First Offender Program is designed to be a coordinated effort between the Native American Service Provider and the local juvenile intake system. Research with juveniles has shown that diversion programs can have very high success rates.

The First Offender Program offers tribal youth program staff a complete program which proven success.

Many Applications for TYP:

The First Offender Program has many practical applications and can be used with a variety of Tribal Youth Programs (TYP). Substance abuse prevention, juvenile diversion for Indian Communities, after school programs, community service, and family life education groups can all use these materials.
